나의 작업은 어쩌면 나에 대한 불신에서부터 시작되었는지도 모르겠다.

어디서부터 시작되었는지 왜 그렇게 시작했었는지는 기억할 수 있지만, 작업을 꾸준히 해 나가야하는 정당성에 대해서는 늘 변명하고 확신이 부족한 편이라고 해야겠다.

작업을 시작하기 전의 두려움과 작업을 하지 않고 있을 때의 불안함 사이에서 20년을 작업해왔다

작업을 하면서 느끼는 많은 생각들-주로 불확신감-이 작업에 묻어나지 않기를 바라기 때문에 나는 어쩌면 최대한 생각을 숨기고 조각조각을 이어붙이거나 또는 엮는다. 실은 극히 개인적인 감각과 느낌으로 작업하는 터라 나를 많이 담고 있는 것처럼 여겨지지만, 바라는 바는 정말 철저히 조형적인 요소들만 보여지는 것이다.

시간의 흐름 속에서 포착된 감각과 기억의 단편을 형태로 응축한다. 작가는 수공예적 방식으로 판재를 자르고, 붙이고, 다듬는 반복적인 과정을 통해 물질이 가진 본연의 구조적 긴장과 균형을 드러낸다. 각각의 조형은 직관적이면서도 정제된 형태를 띠며, 색과 면, 선의 교차를 통해 리듬과 공간감을 만들어낸다.

장신구는 몸 위의 장식이 아니라, 시간의 흔적을 품은 ‘조각적 존재’로 기능한다. 매끈하면서도 단단한 표면, 비정형의 구조, 강렬한 색의 대비는 감정의 잔상을 물질화하며, 작가가 축적해온 내면의 시간을 시각화한다. 작품 속에는 ‘만드는 행위’ 자체에 대한 집중과 사유가 깃들어 있으며, 이로써 그녀의 작업은 형태를 통해 사라져가는 순간을 붙잡는 조용한 시도이자, 기억과 조형의 경계를 탐색하는 여정이 된다.
